HUCHUY QOSQO – MACHUPICCHU 2D/1N
This is an alternative trek to Machupicchu, departing from Taucaq, located just 10 minutes from Cusco,
leading to Huchuy Qosqo, an ancient Inca archaeological site perched on a cliff with stunning views over
the Sacred Valley of the Incas, crossing mountain passes, Andean communities and offering a large array
of local flora and fauna. An excellent and less-beaten hike complemented with a visit to Machupicchu.

ITINERARY:
Day 1: CUSCO - CHINCHERO.-
We depart at 06:30 by bus to the Andean community of Taucaq located in Chinchero the starting point for this trek,
We ascend towards the mountain pass Rumicruz at 4230m/13874ft and enjoy a panoramic view of the Qoricocha and the Vilcanota snow capped range,
We walk through puna landscapes, surrounding the area in spectacular views stand the Veronica, Pitusiray, Chicon and San Juan snow peaks.
Then we descend towards the Pucamarca community at 4010m/13153ft, where we can see the llamas and alpacas. we walk downhill towards the
Leon Punku ravine, where we find remains of an Inca bridge and trail and arrive to the ruins at 12.30 aproximatly, we have the lunch here and visit the ruins for 1hr.
then we continue our way to Lamay then to Ollantaytambo by bus and by train to Machu Picchu town where we spend the night in a hotel.
Day 2: MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO
After the breakfast in the hotel We board a bus to Machupicchu where we begin a complete guided tour of the Inca citadel that will take approximately two hours,
then free time to explore Machu Picchu or climb up the Wayna Picchu mountain. Return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch, and take the train back to Cusco.
