Trek Glacier Halancoma Machupicchu 4 Days 3 Nights



This trek route is the less-frequented for hikkers. This 3 days trek up to the startling glacial lakes of Halancoma and Tastyuc, with a stretch walking along a glacier. Llama shepherds help with the toughest stages of this challenging, often barren hike, mostly in the 4000m-4200m contours, You’ll finish by descending to old inca ruins then to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo and by train to Machupicchu.

Day 1: Cusco - Tastayuc – Tastayuc lagoon

We depart from Cusco in the morning at 06:00 and drive 2 ½ hours. to the Commnunity of Tastayuc (3,400 m / 12,522 ft) located in the route to Quillabamba this is the starting point of our Trek and is the place where we meet the porters who will go with us to this hike.

We will begin the hike of 3 hour approx. going up to lagoon of Huaqratanca were we have the lunch,after that we continuo for 2 hrs. to Qosqoqawarina camp site, in the afternoon we can explore the Halancoma glacier.

Day 2: Qosqoqawarina - Yanaorcco pass – Choquechaca

After the breakfast we will beging the hike going up 3 hrs. to reach the mountain pass of Yanaorcco, from this point we can appreciate the snowcapped peak la Veronica and Chicon. Then we go down for 1 hrs. to our lunch place near a small lagoon in the afternoon we continue for 2 hrs. to the Andean community of Choquecancha the camp site  

Day 3: Choquechaca – Pumamarca ruins- Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

From Choquecancha we will descend for 2 ½ hours to the inca ruins of Pumamarca We visit and explore this place then we continue for 2 more hrs. to the next Inca ruins Muscapuquio, Media luna and Muyumarca

We continue with the hike to 1 hr. to Ollantaytambo (2,792 m/9,158 ft) where we will have the lunch and for the afternoon we catch the train to Aguas Calientes town and transfer to your hotel.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

After the breakfast in the hotel, we go ½ hr. by bus to Machu Picchu, for a walking tour in the site (2 ½ hrs. approximately) visiting the temples, palaces and interesting places

then you will have time to climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu that overlooks the ruins. Return to Aguas Calientes at about 2pm to take the train back to Cusco.
