Lima - Cusco - Machu

Itinerary:
Day 1:
Arrive in Lima, reception and transfer to hotel, information on
city and tours. Hotel accommodations
Day 2:
Breakfast. Lima City Tour. Tour the most important and
characteristic colonial areas of the city including the Plaza de
Armas, capitol buildings, cathedral, archbishops palace,
Desamparados train station and old streets with classical
mansions with Moorish style balconies, San Francisco church with
its majestic convent and catacombs. Leaving central Lima visit
the neighborhoods of San Isidro and Miraflores and Love Park,
demonstrating the contrast between old and modern Lima
Day 3:
Breakfast. Transfer to airport for flight to Cusco. City Tour:
Koricancha, cathedral, Sacsayhuaman, Q'enko, Pucapucara,
Tombomachay. Hotel in Cusco.
Day 4:
Breakfast. Excursion to Machu Picchu. Early in the morning
transfer to the train station to begin the all day excursion to
Machu Picchu, the “lost city of the Incas” and one of the best
known examples of Inca architecture. The city is located in a
jungle like environment. After tour and free time in the ruins,
return to Cusco by train. Lunch is not included. Hotel.
Day 5:
Breakfast. Sacred Valley Excursion. Visit the traditional market
of Pisaq, buffet lunch in Urubamba, and the town and ruins of
Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo is perhaps the longest occupied
town in the Americas and the original Inca houses, canals,
streets and walls. Return to Cusco, hotel.
Day 6:
Leave Cusco in the early morning by bus, ascending to the villae
of Paucartambo and visit the cemeteries of Chullpas de Ninamarca.
Descned to the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orquids
and other flowers. We pause to see the Cock of the Rock, Peru 's
official bird. That night we arrive at the village of Pilcopata,
where we spend the night in a typical hostal with bathroomss and
showers.
Day 7:
After breakfast we travel to Puerto de Atalaya by bus, where we
transfer to a river boat and go down the Alto Madre de Dios
river. On the way wee see a variety of birds and possibly a
condor. Or a jaguar. At nid day we have a brief paus at Boca
Manu and then continue on down river arriving in our camp. We
spend the night camping on wood platforms.
Day 8:
After breakfast we visit the Collpa to see the many macaws and
other birds who gather to eat clay. Little by little they
arrive. After this spectacular show we return to Boca Manu.
Later we enjoy a jungle walk. Camping.
Day 9:
We enter the thick jungle by boat, looking for white alligators,
turtles and other water life. In the afternoon we arrive at our
camp located at Otorongo lake, where we take a walk to see the
lake to see the giant river otters. Camping.
Day 10:
We will visit Salvador Lake which is 30 minutes from our camp.
Travelling by catamaran we have the possibility of observing the
giant river otters and a great variety of birds. Later we will
walk in the jungle to observe and understand its principal
plants. Camping. Optional night walk.
Day 11:
We return to Boca Manu, then travel by boat to Yanayaco where we
stay in a hostal. We visit a clay lick for tapirs. Night in the
hostal.
Day 12:
We return by boat to Atalaya where our bus is waiting to
transfer us to Pilcopata. There we spend the night in a hostal.
Day 13:
We retrun to Cusco by bus, visiting the cloud forest again. We
arrive in Cusco at about 4 pm.
Transfer to hotel.
Day 14:
Breakfast. Transfer to airport to fly to Lima. Tranfer to hotel
in Lima. Hotel
Day 15:
Tranfer to airport for international flight.
