TREK AUSANGATE MOUNTAINS ROUND TRIP 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
usangate Trek 5 Days-Explore the remote, untouched wilderness of the Ausangate trek circuit including the stunning Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain on a 5-day journey around the skirt of wondrous snow-capped Sacred Mountain (“Apu”) of Ausangate (6,372mt/20,900ft), which is the 10th highest mountain of the Americas and the highest peak in Cusco region. During the whole Ausangate trek circuit we will pass local villages, where the people dress in their typical attire. Our amazing and unique Ausangate trek itinerary will take you to discover the most beautiful scenery of the Peruvian Andes, with its dazzling Ausangate peaks and glaciers, high turquoise alpine lakes, rainbow mountains, hot springs, where llamas and alpacas graze freely around. Besides, the Ausangate trek is one of the picturesque treks, the highest altitude treks in Peru that traverses high altitude passes over (5,000mt/ 16,000ft).
TREK AUSANGATE + RAINBOW MOUNTAIN 5 D / 4 N
ITINEARARY:
Day 1: CUSCO – TINKE – UPIS
Early morning at 05:30 we leave the city of Cusco in a private transport, and drive 3hrs. along the Cusco – Puerto Maldonado highway on the way we pass through Urcos, Cattca, Ocongate, after an approximated 3 hours drive, we arrive in Tinki, (3800m/12464ft). then We continue 1 hr. to Paqchanta where We can enjoy of the hot springs the lunch place, we meet our wranglers and horses here. After the lunch We start our trek initiating a slight climb that crosses through puna (dry, high area with little vegetation) From here we already have beautiful views of the sacred Ausangate peak (6372m/20900ft).We hike 4 hrs. to reach our campsite in Upis at 4400m/14432ft. From this point, we may appreciate fabulous views of all the snow peaks in the area.
Day 2: UPIS – ARAPA PASS – ANANTAPATA
After breakfast, our hike begin ascending for 2 1/2 hours to reach the Arapa pass (4850m/15908ft). We then descend 1 hrs. to our lunch place, crossing an area of vizcachas or Andean rodents. This area also boasts three beautiful lakes with tones of reds, greens, and turquoises (Pukacocha, HatunPukacocha, and Qomerqocha) and spectacular views of the surrounding snow peaks. After lunch, we continue on a long and slow ascent that will take us, after about 2 hours to Pucaqocha laggon, then we continue ascending to the Anantapata mountain pass (4900m/16072 ft). We then descend 1 hr. to Alqatarwi community our camp site.
Day 3: ANANTAPATA – RAINBOW MOUNTAIN – AUSANGATE QOCHA
We have the breakfast early morning at 05: 00 After breakfast, our hike begin ascending for two hours to reach the Warmisaya mountain pass (4680m/15560ft) We then continue the trewk to reach the famous Rainbow mountain, and the Red Valley, after the visit We will return to Anantapata for the lunch then the hike continues to Ausangate Qocha (4580m/15862ft).
Day 4: AUSANGATE QOCHA – PALOMANI PASS – JAMPA
We hike 2 1/2 hrs. to reach the Palomani (5277m/15862ft) mountain pass From this point We will be able to enjoy the view of numerous mountains around as well as of the Ausangate glacier, andean camels in their natural environment. The trek lasts for about 1 more hours until we get to the stunning red lagoon, then We continue to Huchuy Phinaya our lunch place, for the afternoon the hike continues for 3 hrs. to the Jampa camp site.
DAY 5: JAMPA – PACCHANTA – CUSCO
The last day of the hike we left early at 07:00, on the route We can appreciate lagoons and glaciers amazing landscapes for the pictures of this natural wonder, climbing 3 hours. to the Jampa (4989m/14896ft) mountain pass and then we descend for 2 hours. to the village of Pacchanta where we have lunch, here we will have about 2 hours to relax on the termal baths, on the afternoon We return to Cusco arriving at approximately at 18:00.
